- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream or milk
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Cream the butter: Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add powdered sugar: Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until fully combined. The mixture should become thick.
- Add vanilla and cream: Mix in the vanilla extract and cream until the buttercream is smooth and easy to spread. If the consistency is too thick, add more cream; if it’s too runny, add more powdered sugar.
- Beat again: Continue mixing for another minute to make the buttercream light and airy.
- Fill the macarons: Transfer the buttercream into a piping bag and fill the macaron shells, gently pressing them together.
